What can any one person do?’ he said.
‘Each person does a little something,’ I said, ‘and there you are.
~ Kurt Vonnegut, Mother Night

Hello! I’m a therapist whose goal is to work with you to help you be the best version of yourself. I have particular focus in treating OCD, PTSD, and most forms of anxiety and depression but I am comfortable with a wide range of presenting issues. I hope to make therapy accessible and to avoid use of jargon, though I am happy to provide as much education on mental health as you would like.

I think therapy is best when it is tailored to the unique person I am speaking to, and I can tailor my approach to fit you and your needs. I always ask about your previous experiences with therapy, as this will impact our work together. Whether therapy is something you are brand new to or something that has been part of your life for a long time we can work together in a way that is collaborative and respectful.

“There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”
~ Leonard Cohen.

I want to keep my acronyms to a minimum but I think it’s important to explain my background and view of therapy. I practice from a lens combining ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) with techniques from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) along with other approaches as needed by your goals. What do all these things mean? They mean that I view you as someone who is affected by their past, and that stories about your past affect the way you live today. Together, we can investigate these narratives to see how they fit into your life- do they help you live in alignment with your values, or do they create limiting beliefs about what you are capable of? You are the expert on you, so I will not insist on my own perspective. Instead I will work with you to first articulate many of the underlying beliefs you have about yourself, and then investigate them, and then determine what to do about them.

I have five years of experience treating everyone from teens to adults in their 80s. My educational background in social work has given me an appreciation for for broader, systematic issues impacting you beyond just your immediate family. I have had clients from a wide range of backgrounds and identities, and have received training in LGBTQ+ Affirming CBT from the Yale School of Public Health.
