I believe knowing yourself and being able to make meaning of your experience is a major goal of therapy.
I specialize in helping those in the LGBTQ+ community. Together, we will explore how you see yourself and how you want others to think about you. We will work on self-acceptance and becoming truer in your pursuit to express yourself. A main focus will be on understanding who you are and to identify any changes you hope to make. Meanwhile, we will also look at your relationships with others and learning to set boundaries that keep you emotionally safe. I really want to listen to you, hear your story, and make sure you feel understood. I provide a lot of validation and comfort so that therapy feels like a really great conversation. At the same time, I want you to walk away with new ideas and perspectives to contemplate.
I have a Masters in Drama Therapy, BFA in Drama and a Minor in Psychology. In addition to psychotherapy and counseling education, my professional training includes dance, theater, film acting, and production. Creativity helps you articulate your thoughts and feelings, and I think my personal interest in drama has helped me develop methods to successfully facilitate self-understanding. It has given me unique and compelling tools that allow the process to work. I work with clients of all ages with a wide spectrum of symptoms and experiences including depression, anxiety, identity nonconformity, life transitions, and relational difficulties.
I am here to help you get to know yourself better through nonjudgmental curiosity, creative self-expression, and authentic connection.
Much of my work has been focused within the LGBTQIA+ community. This work has taught me that painful experience happen to so many people, and that healing requires giving you a chance to tell your story, to make sense of it, and find acceptance for yourself. I am interested in getting to know you as a whole person. I consider my approach to be strengths-based and person-centered, meaning that we will identify what you’re doing well and make sure you know you have wonderful qualities. I will help better acknowledge your accomplishments and develop self-compassion.
I deeply believe that our struggles and our strengths are often two sides of the same coin. Our work together will be tailored to you as a unique individual and may look like a blend of talk therapy and drama therapy, based on your comfort level and interest. My hope is that I can help guide you to an enhanced understanding of who you are, how you want to walk through your life, and what it looks like to be true to yourself.
