Be a Part of the Marsh Psychotherapy Team
At Marsh Psychotherapy, we are serious about the work we do. We provide a high level of support for our staff and adhere comprehensively to a culture of inclusivity. At the same time, we are creative people who are easy-going and relatable. Our team embraces high standards of excellence. We teach, we give back to the community, and we provide opportunities for our clinicians.
We want our clients and therapists to find their experience with us to be rewarding and satisfying.
While we take our work seriously, we enjoy celebrating with each other and participating in fun team activities like paint-n-sip parties, scavenger hunts, and lunch and learns. In our day-to-day, we have a dedicated chat stream for sharing personal celebrations, fun pictures, and daily joy with each other. We know that providing therapy requires happy, comfortable, and well-supported staff. We even have a Happiness Coordinator. Really. That’s their title.
Why Join the Team?
Our practice is looking for experienced and skilled therapists to join us. All disciplines are welcome to apply. We have previously exclusively hired Creative Arts Therapists (LCAT) but are also excited to grow our clinic with creative and skillful clinicians with the following licenses: LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LCAT, and Psychology Postdoc. We are looking forward to creating a fuller and more diverse team as our practice grows and so we can better serve a wider range of clients.
We offer contracted positions with an income range of $55-85k annually (dependent on level of experience and reflective of a full caseload with at least 20 clients as week and working 50 weeks a year)
- Our therapists have the flexibility to manage their own schedules (work when and where you want)
- We provide high-level individual supervision and training opportunities, if desired, at no charge to you
- We also have a welcoming community feel with weekly group supervision, case presentations, and time to chat with each other
- We provide your caseload, a HIPAA compliant zoom account, comprehensive online EHR software, and funding for your Psychology Today profile (You of course must have a private space to provide treatment)
- We offer growth opportunities including supervisory positions (interns, permitted clinicians, licensed clinicians) and teaching opportunities
You will NOT be expected to:
- Handle billing or insurance filing,
- Routinely do intake or marketing work,
- Do this work alone. While we seek independent workers who know their stuff, we value interdependence and community support both clinically and personally.
How to Join the Team
We seek individuals who can work independently, are dedicated to ongoing learning and clinical growth, and who want to participate in a close-knit group of clinicians while enjoying the benefits of remote work. In considering the position, we seek individuals who take their commitment to treatment seriously and who understand the responsibility of private practice.
The ideal therapist for Marsh is someone who:
- Thinks therapy takes time. It is not a short, in-and-out process but also not forever.
- Has acumen in techniques outside CBT to include psychodynamic therapy.
- Takes this job seriously beyond a side gig but more as a commitment to clients who are ready for change.
- Wants to actively engage their clients in meaningful work and see results.
- Likes remote work and can manage it responsibly.
- Wants to be part of the team and finds ways to actively participate.
- Thinks professionalism is cool and strives to uphold ethical principles.
- Is actively progressing in their intersectional anti-racist and pro-equity journey.
If you would like to be part of this dynamic group, we are looking for someone with:
- A valid license to practice therapy in the State of New York (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LCAT, Psychology Postdoc)
- An anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-homophobic, and anti-oppressive lens who can work with a wide range of populations, identities, and presentations
- 2+ years of clinical experience as a fully licensed clinician
- 2+ years of post-graduation remote/online work
- The ability to understand the characteristics of, diagnose, and treat a wide range of mental health challenges and presentations
- An openness to self-reflection, supportive feedback, and open dialogue
- Oral and written communication skills
- Strong familiarity with the assessment and treatment of suicidality
What to Expect
- 1
Once you send us your letter and resume and we think we may be a good fit for you, we will ask you to fill out a super short questionnaire. We then ask to speak with you for a few minutes on the phone.
- 2
After that, we will ask you to join us on zoom for an in-depth interview. Specifically, we want to know how you deal with crises, your treatment approach, your experience with various populations, your experience with virtual work, what you do for self-care, and what you think about supervision.
- 3Then a short meet and greet with members of our team to assess fit for our community culture.
- 4
The last step is calling your references. We want three clinical contacts who can speak to your abilities as a therapist. And that’s it!
